FULL TIME HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR TRAINING PROGRAMS

National Certification Programs Curricula
The National Certification Programs are full-time, comprehensive, industry developed, nationally recognized programs accredited by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER). Each level is scheduled Monday through Friday for a period of three weeks.  Level one provides an introduction to the heavy equipment industry and basic heavy equipment operation. Level one is required for a student to proceed into Level Two & Three programs. The Heavy Equipment Operation Level Two is designed to build upon Level One training by introducing additional equipment and training thereby allowing the student more employment opportunities. Equipment types used in Level II are bulldozers, scrapers, rollers and forklifts. Additionally, students will learn heavy equipment rigging, grade reading, laser levels, safety procedures, and heavy equipment maintenance. The Heavy Equipment Level Three program is designed for students who have completed Level One & Two. The Level Three program contains instruction on hydraulic excavators, motor graders, and advanced instruction in real world project planning and project completion. Graduates of these programs will receive a National Certification from the National Center for Construction Education and Research.  Following are some of the course modules for each level:

Commercial Driver License (CDL) Training
A Class-A (Tractor Trailer) Commercial Driver Licensing (CDL) program or component is also offered in combination with the heavy equipment training at some ATS schools. The CDL is required to haul  your equipment on a flatbed/lowboy trailer and to drive dump trucks on public roads. ATS schools also teach off-road dump trucks which do not require a CDL.  Many construction industry employers value equipment operators with a CDL. The CDL component trains you to test and receive a Class-A CDL.  If you are  planning on getting our Class-A CDL, please be aware that there are some additional fees related to his part of the program which are not included in the tuition price. These include DOT physical exam, drug test, permit fee, road test, and license fee. These fees vary in price but can total as much s $300. These fees usually can be paid for with your financial assistance if you qualify.
